You want to come to Romania, but you don’t know what to visit? You think of visiting Dracula’s castle, some painted churches or the Danube Delta? That’s so cute, but it’s wrong! (well, it’s actually not wrong, just mainstream; it would actually be cool for your grandparents, but you are not your grandparents, are you?)
Come instead to the Undiscovered Romania! We kick off this series with perhaps the most accessible and awesome attraction. To get to it, just start from Bucharest, go 60 km in whatever direction, turn right and after 10 to 20 minutes you’re there: the Romanian village.
The must-see of the Romanian village is the village bar. You’ll recognise it after the plastic tables in front. Just go in, buy whatever you like (from beer and chips to raw meat to plastic buckets, all at ridiculously low prices) and have a seat. If you are lucky, you will find there the village’s madman (every village has one). Treat him with a glass of whatever you have and he will become your bestest buddy, sparkling a delightful conversation filled with his insights and wisdom of life.
Also check out the dogs, cute, cuddly and in need of some TLC.
