End of the Road Trip

Death Valley

After Zion, arrived in Las Vegas. Eiffel Tower, The Pyramids, The Arch of Triumph, Roman temples… Must be the capital of kitsch. Next morning, saw Hoover Dam. Then went straight for Death Valley. Just missed the sunset at Dante’s View. Camped at 40 degrees C. Furnace Creek is a proper name. In the morning, it got to a low of 30 degrees C. Saw a Ghost Town, Slept in the Desert

Calico. Old mining town. Then deserted. Now tourist attraction. Enjoyed it. Restocked on supplies just off of Route 66. Saw the sunset in the truck parking. Went in search of a campground. In the Mojave National Preserve. In the desert. The campground was not accessible – road washed away by floods. Slept in the middle of nowhere.
