Day 10 Another driving day – 6 hours along the scenic roads of Arizona and Utah. Left the Grand Canyon, with its vegetation, decent temperatures and occasional shower and returned to the deserts, with thorny bushes, red rocks and a high of 105 degrees F according to our car. Obviously started the day with another trail run. The area is just too good to pass. After a few kilometers of warmup across town, went up the cliffs above Kanab via the Squaw Trail, then on some singletrack and dirt roads (more like sand roads) called the Connector Trail, down the valley via the Cliffs Trail (very steep, involved a little rock scrambling), then a little bit of John’s Canyon Continue…
Day 7 Went running in the morning up a hill nearby. Found the trail thanks to the guy taking care of the cemetery – “Don’t worry about those barbed wire fences, just jump them, nobody cares. I heard it was beautiful. Still, I wasn’t prepared for this. Arrived in Zion mid-afternoon. The view after going through the tunnel was spectacular. We went on a small hike, then rented some equipment for the next day, searched for a campground and went to sleep. 5 am. 5 degrees C. Wake-up. 10 am. On top of Angel’s Landing. Epic. Afternoon.
