Last weekend, I’ve been to the country side, in hope of seeing some nice meteors. Unfortunately, this was also the weekend when winter decided to come to Romania. Other parts of the country got covered by snow, I only had some rain, wind and temperatures around 6 degrees C. If this wasn’t enough, I found out that the village bar, a place filled with good memories (mostly of drunk people acting funny) had burned. Sad day indeed. Of course, there were other bars (about 3 on a 100m radius), but they were just cheap rip-offs. Hope that by next summer the bar is going to be re-built to its former glory.
Since the photo harvest does not have the awesomeness level required for my blog, I’m not posting any of my pictures here. Instead you can check out this – how the Draconids looked in Spain.
And some other news – since today I’m hosting a few seminars for first year CS students at the University of Bucharest. I had the chance today to do something I’ve always wanted:
Went in the class. The room was full – 30 students being loud.
Go to the teacher’s desk. All the students are being loud.
Throw my backpack on the chair and then sit on the desk, facing them, with a straight inexpressive fixed face. Some students shut up, a lot are still loud.
Holding the straight face, not moving a muscle. Most of the students shut up.
Straight face. Everybody shuts up. Silence.
Straight face. Everybody looks at me, I look at them. Silence. Dead silence.
Still silence.
Still silence.
Then I just say “Hey”.
