Pestera – Lost in time

The forecast was of a cold rainy weekend. Fall was finally coming.

But I wanted some mountains. Nothing extreme, just walking, reading, breathing, slowing down for two days. And I don’t care if it’s rainy or not. I love rain as I love sun (as long as I don’t have to bike through mud). When was the last time when you (really) enjoyed the rain? I think mine was a couple of weeks ago 🙂

We went to the foothils of Piatra Craiului (remember it? 1 2 3). We stayed in the village of Pestera, at Casa Folea – (apparently) the oldest tourist pension in Romania.

The weather was indeed gloomy. Loved it!

We walked a little in the surrounding area, up to the point where the final ascent – to conquer the highest peak of the mountain – begins. Even though we were just 2km away from the peak, we couldn’t see it. Still, we got a feeling how the view looks like :). Just check the following two images:
