Despite the crappy winter, spring came with a little snowfall which allowed me to end the skiing season properly, with some alpine valleys. I only managed to get two days on the slopes, but they were pretty intense, so I don’t feel I’ve missed out.
The first day was with Marius and a big group of people. Went on his classic combo: cable car to Babele, descend Malin down to the technical parts, climb back up, then descend Alba and get back to Busteni in no time.
We had pretty good weather. Quite windy higher up, but once you got in the valley the sun reflecting in the snow felt like in an oven.
The next weekend I headed back to the Bucegi Plateau. This time I was alone, but I had no problem finding a group to stick around, for safety reasons. The cable car to Babele was packed with skiers and snowboarders.
This time we skied Alba twice. It was slightly more difficult compared to last week, with less snow and more boulders. There was also a big “ramaie” (I don’t know the word in English; basically a sort of crevasse formed in snow, not ice) that posed some technical challenges.
