3 Days 3 Mountains MTB Ride – Strategica to Ramnicu Valcea

Descended in Ciunget and stopped at the village pub. All tables were full of happy (as in drunk) clients, but it wasn’t such a big deal, we weren’t planning on staying a lot. It was already 5 PM and we still wanted to climb up Capatanii and find a decent place to sleep (sheephold or similar). The road up Capatanii wasn’t as good as the ones before. Steeper, more rugged. Berlin City Break

Let’s get straight to it. Berlin is great as a city break. If you see a good Ryanair offer, as we did, take it. We’re not into museums, but even after crossing those off of the todo list, we still had a lot left. We probably could have stayed a couple of days more without getting bored. We started with a free walking tour, to get a feel of the Continue…

3 Days 3 Mountains MTB Ride – Talmaciu to Strategica

The TL;DR plan: Saturday morning train to Talmaciu, cross the Lotrului Mountains, sleep at a guesthouse in Voineasa, on Sunday ride to Obarsia Lotrului, climb Transalpina, cross the Latoritei Mountains, descend in Ciunget, sleep somewhere (?), on Monday climb Capatanii Mountains, descend west of Buila Vanturaritei and take a train from Ramnicu Valcea. Extremely long train ride to Talmaciu. At least that’s how I felt it, after Alex didn’t bring Continue…

Hiking Buila Vanturarita

Buila has been on my todo list for a while and I’ve just gotten the opportunity to check it out. We weren’t in a hurry, so we planned for a relaxed two day trip, with a night camped out at Curmatura Builei. There’s also a chalet in the northern edge of the massif, but we didn’t escape Bucharest to sleep indoors. We left the car in the village of Pietreni. Continue…

ETDFRUR! – Fereastra Zmeilor to Plaiul Foii

* ETDFRUR! standing for Epic Two Day Fagaras Ridge Ultra Run I really wanted to sleep, but I encountered several problems. First, that sleeping pad again. Horrible. Second, sometime during the night water started dripping over my sleeping bag. Had to use the bivy sack to stay (somewhat) dry. Third, those Polish scouts staid up pretty late, singing, telling stories, saying prayers (I think, I don’t speak Polish). I almost felt sad Continue…
