US Road Trip 2018 Day 3 – The Hidden Valley

Probably the longest drive of the trip – 8 hours in total. After 4 hours on highways, we got another two to cross the mountains and another two through Yellowstone, to our campsite. Let’s jump straight to the mountain crossing. The road’s name is Beartooth All American Highway. Climbing up to over 3300 meters, it’s their version of the Transalpina. Or rather Transalpina is our version of Beartooth. Started from Continue…

US Road Trip Days 1&2 – Boxwork and Scenic Roads

Day 1 Morning finds me groggy from too little sleep following the midnight flight. Still, I don’t have time to relax – I have to run some errands. Get an Uber to the car rental office, get the car, go to the bike shop, try to buy the bike I talked to them about… but it’s out of stock… discontinued actually in preparation for launching the 2019 model. Get back Continue…

Looking in retrospect, that would have been a wrong call, because the falls were pretty spectacular. We went on the cruise to the base of the falls. Otherwise you really can’t see much from the US side. The best view (while on land) is from Continue…

New York, New York

New York definitely lived up to its fame. I found it similar to Hong Kong – crowded metropolis, expensive, skyscrapers making the most out of any available space (just without the mountains and tropical weather). We had only one day there and it was a lot less than this place deserves. Tried to make the most of it. Only visited Manhattan. Parked the car in the South and started our Continue…

Banat – Papaya Farewell Epic

This was Papaya’s last ride (with me, at least). We had 6 seasons together (well… during 2017 I only got one weekend in, due to my knee injury+surgery). We rode 3416 km, most of them on some mountains somewhere awesome. We’ve went through many adventures: – biking in hot dusty isolated Henry Coe State Park – night biking in Santa Cruz – crossing Vrancea’s mountains in search of large carnivores Continue…
