First time in Bulgaria

I came to Bulgaria without having any expectations. But right after crossing the border I started getting that strong Eastern European vibe – deserted industrial buildings, rusty and reclaimed by vegetation. Prominent color: grey. Not that the Romanian town near the border was any brighter. Giurgiu had pretty much the same 90s feeling. And then we got to Arbanasi. Blown away. Is this still Bulgaria? It felt more like Greece. Ciucas

2 day hike in Ciucas. Started in Cheia, went up Culmea Buzaianu towards Varful Gropsoarele, then Varful Muntele Rosu followed by a night at Cabana Muntele Rosu. The second day we visited Cabana Ciucas, then followed Culmea Bratocea down to Pasul Bratocea. The first day was rainy, at least before getting out of the forest. The spring mountain bike training season didn’t go very well due to all the rains, so I had to make do with just a few laps over the MoontimeBike course. On Continue…

My Shortest MTB Ride

The story is short too. It was sometime in May, after a period of rains followed by  a short period of sunny weather. I had an urge for some mountain biking. After a few laps on the dry MoontimeBike course in Tineretului Park, I thought mud would not be an issue elsewhere.  Woke up early and headed for Campina. But no. There was mud. Biking was not possible. Walking was Continue…
